Ease One Small Resistance

April 2026 • A small practice for making your day a little easier.

There are often small points of resistance built into the day.

Things that aren't especially difficult, but take just a little more effort than they need to. Slightly inconvenient. Slightly out of place. Slightly harder than it should be.

Most of the time, we move right past them.

Or we push through them without thinking much about it.

But over time, these small points of resistance can add up.

They create a kind of background weight that makes things feel heavier than they need to be.

Instead of trying to change everything, work with just one.

Try this:

Choose one small point of resistance you encounter during a normal day.

Something minor. Not important or time-sensitive.

For example:

  • having to reach a little too far for something you use often

  • taking an extra step in a routine that could be simplified

  • opening something that's harder than it should be

  • switching between tools, tabs, or spaces more than necessary

Spend 5-10 minutes making it slightly easier.

Not perfect. Just easier.

You might:

  • move something closer

  • remove a step

  • set something up in advance

  • simplify how you approach it

Make one small change to one thing.

Afterward, go through that moment again.

Notice:

  • whether it feels lighter or smoother

  • whether you hesitate less

  • whether the change carries forward into the next action

The effect may be small, but noticeable.

You don't need to fix everything.

Just reduce one point of friction.

Sometimes that's enough to make the rest of the day feel a little different.

And often, once you notice one, the others become easier to see.
